Seymour were the travellers to James Hill for a second consecutive 'first ever meeting' between two teams; the visitors had made the long trip from North Vancouver for the match. The home side came out of the blocks with all guns blazing and they had the ball in the net after just one minute. It came after Pat O'Krane worked his way into the box. A Seymour defender slipped and allowed Jeff Dickson to pick up the ball and he showed no hesitation as he hit the ball home to the left of the keeper. O'Krane was back to his old style in the sixth minute when he blasted a shot high into the surrounding coniferers. It was 2-0 in the tenth minute after a speculative lob from Gene Crowley had the visitor flapping about as if he was catching flies. Nobody on the field was convinced that it was a shot but Crowley was adamant that he put it high to deceive the said keeper, who somehow let the ball trickle through his outstretched arms and into the net.

Gordie Macklin was turning on the style with some intricate footwork and it eventually paid off for him when he stroked home the third Classics goal in the 20th minute. Daryl Lawrie, returning from a long injury lay-off, was the next player to get in on the action when he stroked home the fourth goal just five minutes later. The fifth goal came in the 35th minute from Wayne Ferguson which made the half time score a comfortable 5-0 for the homesters. There was an unexpected sighting of a UFO near the end of the first half - well, it wasn't really a UFO it was Dave Moore playing at centre forward! In their infinite wisdom the coaches made the brave move and it almost paid off. Moore had one shot which the keeper then thanked him for (the backpass). Within a minute, Moore found himself on the edge of the penalty area with the ball. Lawrie shouted for him to turn which he did. He then centred a perfect ball across the goalmouth for Lawrie to hammer into the net but the referee pulled it back for off side. Maybe it was a UFO after all!

The second half began with a shot from Pat Rohla which went way over the bar but to his credit he did pick up a nut-meg in the match. In the 55th minute came goal number six and it was the pick of the bunch. It came after a delightful chipped ball by Alan Massender, from the half way line, put Ferguson on target with a free run to goal. He was being chased down and was falling as he curled a left foot shot round the advancing keeper and then watched as it contorted it way just inside the left hand post. The game was finally put to bed by O'Krane who struck a howitzer home to conclude the scoring. Apologies to all the defenders who were outstanding but didn't get a mention as the goal hogs took all the glory on the day. Special mention must be given to Lorenzo Arcari as it didn't go unnoticed that he took a shot which went for a throw in!
